Moving House

Hello everyone,

As I’m sure you’re all aware by now, The Wonky Giraffe has moved home! It has been such a whirlwind of a month so far, but I am so excited with how the new premises is shaping up!

After thinking for some time that I was needing even more space than I already had, I was delighted when the chance of a bigger unit came about. Wonky’s new space is located on the ground floor of the same U-Stor building as I was in previously, and with only a few steps in and out of the new unit (Unit 8-2) it is much more accessible to everyone. In addition, it is much bigger than the combined space of the two units I had up stairs meaning that the workshop, stock and training space are all contained in the same area, which is just wonderful!

As with any new space, I was keen to ‘make it my own’. Herein lay a weekend of cleaning, painting, packing, moving, unpacking, building... it really has been never ending! But with an army of volunteers, a good clean and fresh lick of paint, the space is feeling fresh, spacious, bright and welcoming - exactly what I wanted for my customers!

With having much more space, I can now organise my stock into distinct sections - ‘Wonky’s Wall of Wool’ is full to the brim with different colours, weights and brands of wool, there are shelves and shelves of material ready to be turned into something wonderful, there are patterns galore and all sorts of accessories and needlework essentials just waiting to be added to your basket.

Most importantly, I am thrilled with how the training space is looking! It is just how I dreamt it would be - spacious, clean, bright and fit for up to 8 people per class. The space can be hired by trainers to hold classes, by individuals to work on projects when they don’t otherwise have space to or by groups of friends just for a cuppa and blether whilst they sew... I can even offer you a kitchen in which to make your cuppa! If you’re interested in hiring the space, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We have now been open in our new space for just over a week, and whilst there are still a couple of bits to sort and a few more things I’ll be working on in the coming weeks, the feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly, wonderfully positive! Everyone loves the size of the space and can’t believe how fresh, open and welcoming it is. This is exactly how I want people to feel when they walk through the door, so it is just a dream come true that it’s how it is being seen by others!

I continue to be open every Monday-Tuesday (10am-4pm) Thursday (10am-6pm) and Friday and Saturday (10am-5pm) so please do come in and have a browse whilst I pop the kettle on!
